The Carriage House, or barn as it was called in the newspaper announcement, was built in 1904 using the same yellow brick imported from England. Note the tin ceiling and the stall of Jim the horse.

Mr. Luke traveled several times to his birthplace in Calstock, Cornwall, England. In 1910 he financed the building of the Calstock Methodist Chapel in honor of his mother, Elizabeth. The church closed in 1990 when several small village chapels were consolidated. It is now home to Calstock Arts Centre and is listed as a Grade II building protected under UK law to preserve the building's character.
